Cost Accountant
About the role
Hayden Industrial, a leading manufacturer of industrial cooling systems, is seeking a Cost Accountant to analyze, monitor, and control costs. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial processes and helps management make informed decisions by preparing cost reports, tracking production expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities, updating standard costs, and ensuring accurate inventory valuation.
Responsibilities
- Analyze manufacturing, operation, and overhead costs
- Prepare and maintain cost accounting reports
- Monitor inventory transactions and perform inventory reconciliations
- Calculate standard costs and investigate variances
- Develop and maintain cost accounting system and procedures
- Conduct profitability and cost-benefit analysis
- Review production costs and recommend cost reduction strategies
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with production, procurement, project management, and finance teams to improve cost efficiency
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 2+ years of cost accounting experience
- Proven experience in cost accounting, manufacturing accounting, or financial analysis
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (US GAAP)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with ERP systems (e.g., Glovia) is a plus
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organization abilities
- Excellent communication and reporting skills
Work Environment
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment using standard office equipment. When in the manufacturing facility, all employees are required to wear personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, and OSHA-compliant safety boots/shoes.
Physical Demands

- Remain stationary for long periods while operating a computer and other office machinery
- Occasionally move about inside the office to access filing cabinets and operate office machinery
- Lift or move objects up to 25 pounds
- On occasion, visit the shop, which is a non-temperature-controlled environment with loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles typically associated with metal fabrication shops
Schedule
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
