Cost Accountant 2026 (Fairfax, VA)

Responsibilities

• Applies accounting principles to compile, depict, and process information.
• Provides financial insight, prepares relevant reports, maintains and readsies business and financial transactions.
• Works in accordance with company policies, procedures, and programs.
• Assembles, accounts for, and assists with analyzing data related to payroll, equipment, subcontracts, permanent materials, and overheads.
• Aid in the generation and analysis of financial forecasts including construction project revenue, margin, and cash flow.
• Prepares and enters accounting journal entries and assists in the monthly closing process of the general ledger.
• Interprets the meaning of accounting and financial documents.
• Documents transactions and summarizes information.
• Modifies, maintains, or creates procedural documentation.
• Participates in reconciliations and maintains data accuracy.
• May audit contracts, orders, vouchers, and prepare reports to corroborate transactions prior to settlement.
• May assist construction managers, project managers, and estimators with information requests and perform special projects as assigned.
• Maintains awareness of accounting best practices and of internal control procedures while assisting in the coordination and monitoring of compliance.
• Assists team in other ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 0-2 years of construction accounting experience.
• Familiarity with multiple software including CMIC & Microsoft Office.
