Cost Accountant
Job Summary
The Cost Accountant II supports the accounting and operations function by tracking, analyzing, and forecasting material, labor, and subcontract costs, while monitoring variances and ensuring accurate cost allocation. This role reconciles subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger, prepares and analyzes inventory and cost reports, and supports cost audits to maintain financial accuracy and compliance.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform various tasks for the company’s accounting/operations function
- Track and forecast material/labor/subcontract costs and report on variances
- Track costs to appropriate contract/project
- Prepare forecasts and monitor variances
- Analyze subsidiary ledgers and reconcile to general ledger
- Assists in cost audits
- Prepare and analyze inventory reports
- Ensure that costs are allocated in accordance with established procedures
- May be involved with the administration and enhancement of the cost accounting system
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field with at least 2 years directly related of experience, preferably in a government contracting environment (or equivalent combination of education/training and experience)
- Inventory analysis experience preferred
- Manufacturing variance reporting experience preferred

- U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
