This position offers a strong mix of hands‑on work and daily responsibility, supporting facility operations by managing inventory and assisting inmate workers.

Description of Work

This position centers on receiving, maintaining, and distributing inventory that supports daily operations within the correctional facility. It also involves processing commissary orders and working directly with inmates during assigned work tasks.

• Inventory Handling: Receive, inspect, store, and distribute stock while maintaining accurate records.
• Commissary Processing: Manage inmate orders from form distribution to delivery and transaction recording.
• Clothing Issuance: Issue inmate clothing according to policy and ensure proper documentation.
• Inmate Supervision: Assign tasks, monitor work quality, and support safe and secure work areas for inmates.
• Equipment Operation: Use forklifts, hand trucks, and other tools to move and secure materials.
• Record Maintenance: Compile reports, input inmate credits into the system, and document sales, shortages, and damaged items.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

• Full‑time employment, 40 hours per week.
• Work hours: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday.
• No telework option.
• Starting annual salary: $44,524.00 (before taxes) for new hires.
• Eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

Qualifications

• Minimum experience: One year of stockroom, warehouse, retail sales, or clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Additional requirement: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.
• Legal requirement: Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
