Corrections Plumbing Trade Instructor - SCI Coal Township

The Corrections Plumbing Trade Instructor role at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Coal Township focuses on teaching plumbing skills and overseeing inmate work in both classroom and job site settings, supporting facility operations while guiding inmates through structured learning.

Responsibilities

• Teach plumbing practices, systems, and procedures in classroom and work settings.
• Direct inmate work crews and inspect completed assignments.
• Document training progress, attendance, and daily schedules.
• Manage, issue, and inventory tools and materials used during training.
• Determine needed supplies and submit purchase requests.

Schedule

• Full-time employment, 40-hour work week.
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
• No telework option available.

Pay

Starting annual salary of $53,036.00 (before taxes) for candidates new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Requirements

• Five years of experience in the inspection, maintenance, repair, assembly, and installation of pipes, fittings, and fixtures used in heating, water, and drainage systems; or
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the plumbing trade; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey-level work in the plumbing trade.
• Must meet Pennsylvania residency requirements.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.
