Responsibilities

• Staff Guidance: Supervise officers, review performance, and provide training that supports safe institutional practices
• Daily Oversight: Plan schedules, direct inmate movement, and maintain required operational reports
• Housing Monitoring: Conduct tours, observe inmate behavior, and address concerns within assigned units
• Transport Control: Process commitments, oversee inmate transports, and inspect vehicles and materials for security risks
• Policy Compliance: Investigate violations, recommend discipline, and participate in formal review sessions
• Crisis Support: Respond to emergencies and support established procedures for crisis prevention

Requirements

• Minimum Experience and Training: One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) OR four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility. (If using the four‑year option, completion of a Department of Corrections training program is required.)
• Other Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA; ability to perform essential job functions.
• Legal Requirement: Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
• Note: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

Benefits

Schedule

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week. Work hours are to be determined with set days off. Telework is not available for this position.
