Description of Work

This position provides structured masonry instruction and oversees inmate work assignments to ensure efficient operations. As a Corrections Masonry Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Classroom Instruction: Deliver lessons that teach masonry practices, methods, and procedures
  • On the Job Training: Guide inmate work crews as they complete masonry repair and construction tasks
  • Worksite Oversight: Maintain order, discipline, and safety during all training and work activities
  • Progress Tracking: Document training results, attendance, and assignment details for each inmate
  • Tool Management: Issue, inventory, and account for all materials and tools used in training and work assignments
  • Project Planning: Determine needed materials and submit purchase requests to support masonry projects

Qualifications Required

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Four years of experience in laying brick, blocks, and other types of building materials, and binding with mortar to construct or repair walls; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the masonry trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the masonry trade.
  • Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday

Salary

Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,036.00 (before taxes).
