Corrections Manufacturing Specialist - Light Manufacturing
Location: Oak Park Heights
Full-time, unlimited position on the day shift (6:55 am - 2:55 pm), Monday - Friday.
About the role
This position provides direct supervision and training of incarcerated persons working in a correctional industry setting in the manufacture and distribution of MINNCOR Industries products at MCF – Oak Park Heights and at MCF - Stillwater MINNCOR division, when warranted. This role involves direct contact with incarcerated individuals within a Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF).
MINNCOR Industries provides premium manufactured goods and services to government entities, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, and private sector companies in Minnesota. Our mission is to provide individuals job skills training to support positive behavior and successful transition into the community, at no cost to taxpayers.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and train incarcerated individuals in a manufacturing environment.
- Develop pricing, negotiate discounts and contracts, and resolve claims using cost and project estimating.
- Demonstrate understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Prioritize and schedule work to ensure products are ready as promised.
- Maintain records, complete reports, and communicate with supervisors, customers, and vendors using basic personal computer skills, including email and word processing.
- Coordinate work effectively with other departments and agencies.
- Address customer complaints and inquiries diplomatically to ensure customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, production, or assembly setting.
- Basic personal computer skills, including email and word processing.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year or more of experience directing the work of others in a manufacturing, industrial, production, or assembly setting.
- Experience supervising incarcerated individuals.
- Experience with manufacturing, industrial, or production machines.
- Experience with Epicor ERP solution software and OnBase.
- Experience with inventory control processes, quality assurance, and piece/parts inspection.
- Experience working directly with customers to address timelines, due dates, problem-solving, and instruction issues.
- Proficient computer skills for order entry, Excel spreadsheets, and inventory management.
Physical Requirements
The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required, including:
- Tuberculosis screening
- Commercial driver’s license (CDL) drug test
- Respirator clearance
The selected finalist may also be required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position.
Additional Requirements
- Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check, including successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.
- Employment history and reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will be conducted.
- New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
- The Minnesota Department of Corrections does not sponsor applicants for work visas, including F-1 STEM OPT extensions. All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Pay
$32.23 - $37.31 / hourly; $67,296 - $77,903 / annually
