Corrections Food Service Instructor - SCI Mahanoy

The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking an experienced food service professional to join SCI Mahanoy as a Corrections Food Service Instructor. In this role, you will guide inmate workers in gaining practical food service skills while shaping daily operations and fostering vocational growth.

Responsibilities

• Teach inmates proper techniques for preparing, cooking, and serving meals according to recipes.
• Inspect food, equipment, and work areas for safety and sanitation compliance.
• Receive, store, and manage food supplies using first-in, first-out procedures.
• Plan tasks, evaluate inmate performance, and maintain accurate work records.
• Maintain care, custody, and control of inmates during kitchen operations.
• Review census and menu information to adjust recipes and reduce waste.

Requirements

• Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or similar large-scale food production operation; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.
• Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Benefits

Pay

Starting annual salary of $49,010.00 (before taxes) for new employees of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Schedule

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week. Work schedule to be determined.
