Food Service Worker

We are seeking a Food Service Worker to support the Veteran community in the Palo Alto, CA area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals.

Pay: $21.21+ an hour
Contract Type: 6-month base contract with option for an additional 6-month extension
Schedule: Hours of Operation: 5:00 am to 7:30 pm

Responsibilities

You will:

• Perform food assembly, tray delivery, and dishwashing during hours of operation (5:00 am to 7:30 pm).
• Assemble items like entrees, meats, potatoes, vegetables, salads, desserts, beverages, condiments, trayware, and serving utensils.
• Place specified items on trays as listed on patient tray tickets and menus according to established portions.
• Deliver meal trays to patient wards and dining rooms on campus.
• Break down and clean tray line after tray service.
• Perform a variety of tasks in the dish room, such as scraping trays, sorting, stacking, and racking tray ware for loading into the dish machine, and pulling clean tray ware from the dish machine.
• Place cleaned pots and pans in designated areas.
• Store food deliveries and supplies in walk-in refrigerators/freezers.

Requirements

• Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
• ServSafe Food Handler Certified.
• Ability to perform physically demanding food service duties in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience with the VA is a plus.

If selected, candidates will need to complete credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes.
