Minimum Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to three years of full-time increasingly responsible professional general personnel or other work which involved some affirmative action/equal opportunity and/or staff development; qualifying fulltime professional experience in affirmative action/equal opportunity may be substituted for the required education, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of four years; additional graduate coursework in personnel administration or other related acceptable field may be substituted for the required experience, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of one year.
- Two years of increasingly responsible professional general personnel or other work with the State of Tennessee which involved some affirmative action/equal opportunity and/or staff development work.
Competencies (KSA's)
- Assists in planning, developing, and implementing equal employment opportunity activities and programs; provides assistance to departments in identifying equal employment opportunity needs and building an affirmative action program; monitors departmental equal employment opportunity programs and functions; directs affirmative action/equal opportunity programs in a large department or a department with enough programs to warrant a position dedicated full-time to the function.
- Establishes effective relationships with all departments or divisions of a department, employment centers, labor, management and community groups, and with minority, lower-skilled, and disadvantaged individuals to promote, coordinate, and effect equal employment opportunity activities.
- Counsels others on matters relating to affirmative action/equal opportunity; develops, executes, and enforces determinations on matters of dispute with guidance from supervisor.
- Recruits and advertises for minorities and minority group members; works to promote training, up-grading, and promotion of minority group employees; participates in on-the-job training in broader aspects of the program.
- Supervises the work of very small staff in accomplishing work.
