Corrections Deputy Recruit - Academy Sponsorship *$5,000 bonus
Job Description
Candidates are encouraged to apply for a limited number of paid sponsorships to a corrections academy hosted at the Brevard County Sheriff's Office Training Range. We are looking for strong candidates with an excellent work history who aspire to become a Corrections Deputy.$5,000.00 BONUS - Trainees who are attending an academy or equivalency of training program shall become eligible for the one-time $5,000.00 bonus upon successful completion of the Corrections Academy, passing of the state exam, and promotion to a Certified Corrections Deputy.

CORRECTIONS DEPUTY ANNUAL PAY: $$58,115.20.
Position Duties
This is a trainee-level classification in which candidates are expected to successfully complete the Basic Corrections Officer Academy and pass the State Officer Certification Exam. Candidates will then be reclassified as a Corrections Deputy.
Separation from employment and reimbursement of tuition fees will result if:
- Recruit withdraws from the academy or is terminated by academy authorities
- Recruit fails to complete the academy for any reason
- Recruit fails to pass the State Officer Certification Exam
- Recruit voluntarily resigns
- Recruit abandons his/her position before working as a certified corrections deputy for BCSO or fails to fulfill their three-year contract after becoming certified and re-classified as a Corrections Deputy.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must have a valid Class E Florida Driver's License
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED
- Must have not been convicted of a felony
