About the role
The Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections – Corrections Services seeks a dependable and fair individual to join our dedicated team at Rayburn Correctional Center in Angie, LA. This role is vital in enforcing custody and control of inmates in a State penal institution, focusing on rehabilitation.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with inmates in a State prison facility.
- Custody and security of inmates - in facility buildings, dorms, workshops, and fields.
- Supervise housekeeping, escort prisoners, investigate suspicious activities, and perform security searches.
- Supervise inmate work crews, patrol areas, and transport inmates as assigned.
- Follow direction from upper level officers, departmental policies, and regulations.
- Receive firearms training.
Requirements
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
- One year of experience in any field.
- Necessary Special Requirements:
- No conviction of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or felony.
- No conviction under indictment on a felony charge.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Current driver's license.

Pay
Salary depends on level of experience. Start as a Corrections Cadet. Eligible for reallocation, up one pay level from Cadet, to Corrections Sergeant after 6 months of successful employment. Eligible for reallocation, up two pay levels from Sergeant, to Corrections Sergeant-Master after one year of successful LA DOC employment. With 2 years of Correctional Office experience and permanent status, eligible to apply for promotion to Corrections Lieutenant, which is up two pay levels from Corrections Sergeant-Master.
Schedule
This is a 24-hour facility. Applicants may be required to work shift work.
