About the role
The Missouri Department of Corrections seeks individuals to supervise Correctional Officers, assist in training programs, and perform various security and supervisory duties.
Responsibilities
- Supervises Correctional Officers
- Develops and monitors performance and work habits
- Observes personnel to ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and procedures
- Conducts on-the-job training for Correctional Officers
- Serves as officer-in-charge of special security posts
- Patrols living quarters, grounds, and buildings
- Prepares and submits reports on offender behavior and security issues
- Discusses minor adjustment problems with offenders and refers serious issues to staff
- Supervises offender movements and conducts counts
- Searches offenders and their living quarters for contraband
- Arbitrates disputes and settles grievances among offenders
- Performs work according to established rules and regulations
Requirements
- Six or more months of experience as a Correctional Officer or Probation and Parole Assistant with the Missouri Department of Corrections
- One or more years of military service or experience in the custody of adult criminal offenders in a similar facility
Qualifications
Applicants must pass a physical examination to meet the physical standards for employment established by the Missouri Department of Corrections.
Skills
Strong communication, observation, and decision-making skills are essential.

Pay
The annual salary includes a maximum security differential of $3,120 annually. Additional differentials may apply based on shift and facility type.
Schedule
Shifts may vary, but positions typically involve night and/or weekend work.
