Correctional Corporal

Responsibilities

• Enforces security rules, regulations and procedures;
• Works with inmates to provide services and information;
• Receives and books inmates including fingerprinting, photographing, and issuing uniforms;
• Collects, inventories, and logs inmate's property at booking;
• Maintains routine operations and security of the jail;
• Monitors inmates' activity in jail cells;
• Ensures all cell check reports are properly completed and incident reports are included;
• Arranges for escort to transport to other locations;
• Monitors inmates’ activity in jail cells;
• Ensures inmates receive meals;
• Provides security for medical staff during medication passes and medical visits;
• Arranges for prisoner to be transported for medical care as needed.

Requirements

• High School graduation or GED equivalent;
• Two years and up to four years of related experience;
• South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy Certification;
• South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy Supervisory Training Course;
• CPR and First Aid Certification;
• NCIC Certification;
• Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
