Corrections Corporal - WEC Detention Facility

Duties

• Maintain control of inmates/offenders in various situations and activities.
• Enforce facility rules and regulations regarding the conduct of inmates/offenders.
• Document inmate/offender behavior, status, and movement.
• Search inmates/offenders' persons, quarters, and work areas for contraband.
• Operate or monitor security equipment to ensure controlled movement of inmates/offenders, staff, and the public.
• Manage inmate/offender housing areas, including sanitation, meal service, laundry inventory, and supplies.
• Maintain daily control documentation such as logs and counts.
• Ensure compliance with rules and regulations in visiting areas.
• Transport or oversee the transportation of inmates/offenders to the community.
• Recommend improvements to security procedures when necessary.
• Handle overtime, voluntary, and mandatory shifts, including weekends, holidays, and double shifts.

Requirements / Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• A high school education or equivalent.
• A valid driver's license.
• The ability to legally possess a firearm and ammunition.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are preferred but not required.
• A valid driver's license.
• Must successfully complete the examination and screening process.
• Must be able to work a shift assignment including weekends and holidays.
• Must pass a medical exam and a drug test before starting the job.
• Must successfully complete the NE Corrections Training Program, which includes CPR, first aid, firearms, and self-defense tactics.
