Correctional Physician
Position Overview
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Managed Care is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven Correctional Physician to join our team at the Montford Regional Medical Facility (RMF) in Lubbock, Texas. Montford RMF is a 128-bed regional medical facility that delivers acute inpatient care, outpatient services, and specialty care to incarcerated patients across the sector. This position primarily focuses on providing outpatient and urgent care services within the infirmary setting, supporting a diverse and medically complex patient population.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine inmate/patients to assess general health, diagnose conditions, and prescribe treatment plans and medications as needed
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation, including clinic notes, chart reviews, and admission documentation
- Conduct chronic care clinics and annual history & physical examinations
- Review and oversee care delivered by physician extenders on-site
- Participate in Unit call rotation with other providers to ensure 24/7 coverage
- Refer patients to specialists or other practitioners when advanced care is required
- Perform outside transfer call duties (typically one weekday during business hours), including:
- Reviewing provider-to-provider sign-outs
- Determining appropriateness of transfer and level of care needed
- Accepting patients when appropriate and beds are available
- Consulting with Montford physicians as needed
- Entering admission orders into the EHR
- Communicating admissions to the provider group via TTUHSC Outlook

Required Qualifications
- Current license to practice medicine by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners.
