About the role

The Oregon Department of Corrections seeks individuals to join the team at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville, Oregon. This is an entry-level position offering training and opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain order within the institution, enforcing rules and regulations
  • Provide care to ensure safety and security
  • Monitor adult in custody (AIC) activities and supervise work assignments
  • Carry out cell checks and searches for contraband
  • Resolve disputes and enforce discipline
  • Inspect and report on safety, sanitation, and fire hazards

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Age 21 or older
  • U.S. citizenship
  • DPSST Physical Standards met
  • Reading comprehension, report writing, and retention abilities
  • Satisfactory ODOC background investigation
  • Pass NTN test with a minimum score of 70%
  • Pass psychological evaluation and risk assessment
  • No evidence of substance abuse
  • Proficient in using computers
  • Valid driver's license

Qualifications

  • Previous correctional experience not required
  • Strong personal attributes such as integrity, passion for helping others, and motivation
  • Teamwork and effective communication skills
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain composure
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations governing correctional facilities

Skills

  • Good ratings in teamwork, taking control of situations, cooperative support, integrity, and communication
  • Low risk ratings in unprofessional behavior and conduct
  • Experience in public safety occupations

Pay

The salary range for this position is $5,872 - $7,980 per month, depending on qualifications and experience.

Schedule

Work shifts and days off may vary based on the needs of the institution and will be determined by the applicable labor contract.
