About the role

The ESL Teacher of Record will provide instruction to students who are English Language Learners (ELLs) in a variety of settings within the Clay Community School District. The teacher will work closely with the district's at-risk program director to ensure that ELL students receive appropriate support and resources.

Responsibilities

  • Teach English language skills to students who are learning English as a second language
  • Develop lesson plans and materials aligned with state and district curriculum standards
  • Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly
  • Collaborate with other educators, parents, and community members to support student learning
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field
  • Valid teaching license in the state of Indiana
  • Experience working with English Language Learners
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

  • Native or near-native fluency in English
  • Knowledge of Second Language Acquisition theories and methodologies
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using educational technology tools

Schedule

Contract length: 185 days/year annually (pro-rated based on remaining days in the school year)
