Application Deadline: 2026-09-18 Job Type: County Job Description Iowa County, Wisconsin is seeking proposals or applications for a part‑time (approximately 32 hrs./wk.) Corporation Counsel / Family Court Commissioner position. The County anticipates 16 hours weekly of Corporation Counsel work and 16 hours weekly of Family Court Commissioner duties. Iowa County is accepting interest from individual attorneys for a benefited employee role, or law firms wishing to contract for services. Compensation is negotiable. This position provides legal services for County agencies and officials and performs quasi‑judicial functions authorized under Wisconsin Statutes for family, small claims, civil, criminal, and traffic matters. Duties include prosecuting and defending civil actions; providing legal guidance to County leadership; drafting and reviewing contracts, ordinances, and pleadings; and conducting hearings related to divorce, child support, custody, initial appearances, small claims matters, temporary orders, and related judicial proceedings. This position will not handle work related to Chapters 51, 54, or 55 or child support enforcement actions on behalf of the Iowa County Child Support Agency. Qualifications include Juris Doctorate degree; membership in the Wisconsin State Bar; and relevant legal practice experience, including municipal and family law.
