About the role
As a member of the Corporate Affairs and Marketing team, the Corporate Event Specialist will support the planning and delivery of high-impact events that advance Bechtel's business objectives, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and reinforce the organization's brand. This role will assist with event execution from initial planning through onsite delivery, including communications, branding, registration management, vendor coordination, budget tracking, and reporting. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, creative, and is looking to build experience within a fast-paced, global organization.
Major responsibilities
- Supports communications, corporate affairs issue management, public or community affairs programs for a project or corporate group
- Performs research, conducts interviews with internal and external sources to write stories, articles, and content for a variety of Bechtel publications, websites and social media platforms
- Implements policies, procedures, and processes that ensure the business unit, project, or program's communication needs are met in a consistent, efficient, and flexible manner
- Adheres to Bechtel personnel policies, management instructions, and other relevant company policies and procedures
- Responds to technical inquiries from internal stakeholders
- Drafts content for and supports the communications function, including face-to-face engagement, electronic news, and intranet mgmt
- Monitors job progress and alerts supervisor when schedules appear to be in jeopardy or deadlines may not be met
- Engages and works closely with other Corporate Affairs disciplines
- Collects data and metrics on a variety of communications activities and outcomes and creates reports based on those metrics
- Assists in planning and implementing all-employees meetings, community outreach programs, and other events, including presentations and logistics
Education and experience requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent) in event management, hospitality, communications, marketing, or a related field
- 1–2 years of experience supporting corporate events, meetings, conferences, trade shows, hospitality programs, or related activities or 5-6 years of relevant experience
Required knowledge and skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
- Ability to travel and work outside standard business hours when required for event execution (~15% of time, may include international travel)
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with Cvent or other event registration and event management platforms
- Experience coordinating vendors, event logistics, and attendee management
- Basic experience with budgets, reporting, and data management
- Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva
- Experience working in a fast-paced corporate or professional services environment
