Responsibilities

  • Draft, edit, negotiate, explain, advise, and collaborate on complex commercial agreements across healthcare providers, life sciences companies, payers, pharmaceutical companies, government entities, and other stakeholders in healthcare, biotech, and life sciences.
  • Handle agreements including clinical and research projects, data license and transfer agreements, strategic collaborations, laboratory services agreements, and vendor contracts.
  • Address novel legal issues involving artificial intelligence, large language models, intellectual property ownership, data privacy, and cutting-edge healthcare technology.
  • Assist with general legal work in a rapidly growing technology and healthcare company, including intellectual property, employment, corporate governance, fundraising, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory, and international issues.
  • Evaluate legal risks and opportunities for projects across business units such as commercial organizations, data science, medical affairs, product & engineering, finance, communications, and people teams.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment where the Legal Department sets the pace for business goals.

Requirements

  • JD Degree.
  • 4+ years of relevant healthcare transactional experience at an established law firm or in-house role.
  • Strong familiarity with the healthcare regulatory environment, including HIPAA, Medicare and Medicaid payment issues, Stark regulation, fraud and abuse issues, and data privacy regulations.
  • Current bar membership in at least one state.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with impeccable judgment, including evaluating and communicating legal risks.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Collaborative and supportive team player.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a high-throughput, open environment with frequent multitasking and re-prioritization to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity to explore new concepts and accept new challenges.
