About the role

The Corporate Counsel assists leaders on the Legal and Vendor Relations teams by performing a variety of legal and procurement related duties, with a primary focus on reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, vendor agreements, and other business transactions. This role requires 100% onsite attendance in our Pontiac office.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating vendor and other company contracts
  • Performing vendor risk management and due diligence functions
  • Identifying expiring contracts, managing contract reporting, and preparing amendments and termination letters
  • Drafting written correspondence with outside counsel, vendors, and other third-parties
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Editing legal documents for accuracy
  • Providing support and assistance to members of the Vendor Relations team
  • Reviewing marketing materials and communications for legal and regulatory compliance
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor’s and Law Degree Admission or pending admission to the Michigan Bar
  • With 1-3 years of relevant job experience
  • Experience reviewing and negotiating vendor and other contracts
  • Knowledge of the contracting and procurement processes
  • Commitment to continuous business improvement
  • Previous in-house legal experience is a plus
  • Capable of working closely with internal clients and outside counsel
  • Effective planning, organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks effectively
  • A high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • The ability to work independently
  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work well in a team based environment

Qualifications
