About the Position
The Fresh Market (TFM) currently has an opening for a Corporate Counsel to join the in-house legal team in our Store Support Center (099).
This role will provide practical, day-to-day legal support across a broad range of commercial matters. The Corporate Counsel will partner closely with procurement and various business departments throughout the Company on commercial contracts and provide guidance to the business on matters related to marketing and promotions, data privacy, and data security.
The position is hybrid, requiring approximately three (3) days in the office with the ability to work remotely otherwise.
What You'll Do
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage vendor, supplier, and other commercial agreements to protect the company's interests and support business objectives
- Identify and reduce contractual, operational, and regulatory risks by addressing liability, indemnification, insurance, and compliance requirements
- Create and improve templates, playbooks, and contracting processes to drive consistency, efficiency, and faster turnaround
- Work closely with several internal departments on strategic initiatives, while also supporting insurance and information security matters
- Support data privacy, data security, and incident response efforts, including compliance with applicable privacy laws and related policies and procedures
- Engage and manage outside counsel, as needed, to support contract negotiations and advise on data privacy and data security matters
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active licensure in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Approximately 3 – 5 years of commercial contracting experience
- Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills
- Sound judgment, strong attention to detail, and a practical business-oriented approach
- In-house experience or experience supporting multi-state retail clients preferred, but not required
