About the role
The Corporate Accounting Manager oversees the company’s general accounting operations, financial reporting processes, and month-end close activities. This role manages accounting staff, ensures compliance with GAAP and internal controls, and supports the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical accounting knowledge, analytical capabilities, and experience improving accounting processes.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team and oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger activities, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Review and approve account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
- Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements and variance reports.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff to support team performance and professional growth.
- Partner with FP&A, tax, payroll, treasury, and operational teams on financial reporting and business initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and increased efficiency within accounting operations.
- Support ERP system implementations, upgrades, and process optimization projects.
- Assist with technical accounting research and preparation of accounting memos as needed.
- Assist Corporate Controller with research and resolution of questions.
- Complete other ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline is required or relevant experience.
- CPA certification preferred.
- 6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or management experience.
- Commercial Real Estate or other service industry experience is preferred.
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Advanced knowledge of Excel with the ability to work with a large volume of data in spreadsheets, with knowledge of formulas and advanced functions, like pivot tables is required.
- Experience leading a team is strongly preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Yardi and Workday is a plus.
- Ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to read and analyze financial reports.
- High attention to detail with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Desire to work in a cooperative, productive, team-driven atmosphere and an ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
