About the role
The Corporate Accountant position is within the Corporate Office of SmartStop Self Storage, a leading self-storage REIT with over 460 properties across North America.
Responsibilities
- Prepares financial reports to track assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other financial activities.
- Aids in preparing monthly financial statement consolidation and quarterly financial statement packages for senior management.
- Collaborates with property accountants to coordinate and review monthly reporting.
- Produces journal entries, account reconciliations, and other general accounting duties.
- Maintains the general ledger and prepares supplemental financial schedules.
- Assists with variance analysis and external financial statement audits.
- Supports treasury management tasks.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
- Minimum 1 - 3 years experience in public accounting and/or private company accounting.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and attention to detail skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on and adaptable to a demanding environment.
