About the role
The Corporate Accountant position is within the Corporate Office of SmartStop Self Storage, a leading self-storage REIT headquartered in Ladera Ranch, CA. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting decision-making for senior management.
Responsibilities
- Prepares financial reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
- Aids in preparing monthly financial statement consolidation and quarterly financial statement packages for senior management.
- Collaborates with property accountants to coordinate and review monthly reporting.
- Produces journal entries, account reconciliations, and other general accounting duties.
- Maintains the general ledger and prepares supplemental financial schedules.
- Assists in variance analysis and external financial statement audits.
- Supports treasury management initiatives.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
- Minimum 1 - 3 years experience in Public Accounting and/or private company accounting experience.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Hands-on and effective in a demanding work setting.
- Able to adapt quickly to change.
- Real Estate/REIT experience a plus.
Qualifications
