Corporate Accountant I or II

About the role

This position supports the Corporate Accounting Manager in accounting operations, performing routine tasks and special projects. Responsibilities include accounting analyses, report preparation, account reconciliations, transaction classification, and financial interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in reconciling general ledger accounts and investigating reconciling items to ensure resolution.
• Support the monthly financial close by preparing account reconciliations, journal entries, and maintaining accurate documentation.
• Analyze period-over-period fluctuations on the balance sheet, income statement, and account level, providing commentary on key business drivers.
• Support the development and maintenance of internal controls.
• Prepare and distribute monthly reports, providing analysis for internal and external needs.
• Assist with data requests for rate case support, audits, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
• Contribute to the development, documentation, and upkeep of accounting policies and procedures.
• Document internal controls and ensure their effective operation.
• Assist with ad hoc analysis and special projects as needed.
• Utilize technological solutions to reduce risk and improve efficiency in process improvement initiatives.
• Document and update procedures as applicable.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or Economics.
• Level I: No prior experience required; training provided.
• Level II: Minimum of 3 years of accounting or financial experience.

Skills

• Understanding of how operational and financial decisions impact financial statements, GAAP, SEC reporting, and internal controls.
• Ability to assess risk and implement mitigation strategies.
• Proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and modeling data to evaluate accuracy, articulate financial implications, and enable informed decision-making.
• Experience with data mining tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) and system interfaces to apply technology solutions.
• Strong organizational skills to manage competing deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Pay

This posting includes the full pay range for the position, which varies based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.

• Level I: $55,450 - $83,300
• Level II: $66,950 - $100,500
