Core Faculty for Master's of Social Work
Job Summary
Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota seeks an experienced and energetic individual for the position of full time, Core Faculty Member of the online Master’s of Social Work program. This is a full-time, 12 month, renewable, benefits-eligible position. The position is responsible for teaching assigned courses including planning learning experiences designed to address the course objectives, facilitating learning through engagement, and assessing student learning.
Essential Skills And Functions
- Demonstrated basic proficiency and interest in educational technology such as Canvas and Panopto.
- The ability to work effectively within a team structure to carry out the mission of the University.
- At least five years of direct practice experience in social work.
- Strong written and oral communication skills; must have fluency in English language.
- Able to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- The willingness to adapt curricula and teaching to current trends in the field.
- Experience teaching adult students is helpful.
Experience And Education Requirements
- An MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited institution is required.
- A doctoral degree in social work or a related field is preferred.
- More than five years of social work practice experience in the field and an academic setting will be considered.
- Experience in higher education is preferred which includes teaching, program development, and/or administration, including experience with the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation standards.
- Currently licensed to practice social work in the state of Minnesota or be eligible for licensure in Minnesota is required.
- Possession of LICSW/LCSW licensure is preferred.
Physical Demands
Sedentary work. Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
