Responsibilities and Expectations

The Supply Chain Leader is responsible for developing and executing a centralized supply chain strategy across a multi-regional network of electromechanical repair facilities specializing in motors, generators, and transformers, where synergies exist. This role provides corporate-level leadership to regional supply chain managers and local buyers, driving standardization, cost optimization, supplier partnerships, material availability, and working capital performance. The position ensures alignment between corporate strategy and regional execution, balancing local responsiveness with enterprise-wide leverage. It will also require high collaboration across production operations, engineering (for cost optimization and new product launches), quality (for supplier qualification and approved vendor lists), and finance (to achieve 3% year-over-year cost reductions). This function will also involve make-vs.-buy decision-making based on internal capabilities and investment.

Enterprise Supply Chain Strategy

• Develop and implement a multi-year supply chain roadmap aligned with company growth and operational strategy.
• Standardize procurement, planning, and inventory management practices across all regions.
• Lead centralization initiatives (strategic sourcing, category management, national contracts, part numbering).
• Establish risk mitigation frameworks and business continuity planning with suppliers.
• Evaluate in-house production vs. internal plant and external opportunities.
• Create governance framework and model to ensure compliance with systems and approvals.

Regional Leadership and Governance

• Lead and mentor regional supply chain managers across multiple repair centers.
• Create accountability mechanisms through key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance dashboards.
• Foster inter-regional collaboration and best practice sharing.
• Conduct quarterly business reviews with regional teams.

Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Management

• Develop preferred supplier networks for:
  • Copper wire, magnet wire, insulation systems (VPI, B-stage, etc.)
  • Core steel and laminations
  • Bearings, mechanical components
  • Transformer components (cores, bushings, oil, radiators)
  • Outsourced machining and fabrication
• Negotiate enterprise-level agreements to reduce costs and improve service levels.
• Implement supplier scorecards and performance evaluations.
• Deploy engineering and quality teams for supplier qualification and product cost analysis.

Inventory and Working Capital Optimization

• Drive improvements in:
  • Inventory turnover
  • Obsolescence reduction
  • Excess and slow-moving inventory management
  • Safety stock optimization for customers and evaluation of spares to support operations
• Align forecasting processes and supplier agreements/pricing with operations and sales processes.
• Implement standardized ERP/MRP planning practices across all regions.

Operational Support for Repair Environment

• Ensure material availability for urgent repairs and assist during service disruptions.
• Provide support for large field service projects with coordinated material logistics.
• Develop rapid-response procurement models for outage and plant shutdown work.
• Balance job-specific procurement with program materials held in stock.

Systems and Process Improvement

• Lead optimization of the supply chain module within the ERP system.
• Ensure data accuracy (bills of material, item masters, vendor files).
• Implement digital procurement tools and supplier portals.
• Standardize purchase approval workflows.

Financial Results and Reporting

• Own the corporate supply chain budget.
• Achieve year-over-year cost savings targets.
• Monitor purchase price variance (PPV).
• Provide executive-level reporting on:
  • Cost reduction initiatives
  • Supplier performance
  • Risk exposure
  • Working capital performance

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Working capital as a % of revenue

Qualifications and Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (MBA preferred).
• Over 10 years of progressive supply chain leadership experience.
• Leadership experience across multiple sites or at a regional level.
• Preferred experience in industrial services, manufacturing, or electromechanical repair.
• Strong ERP/MRP systems experience.
• Proven track record in cost reduction and supplier consolidation.

Preferred Industry Experience

• Motor rewinding and repair operations
• Field service projects for generators
• Transformer remanufacturing or refurbishment
• Industrial services or rotating equipment environments
• Project-based and service-disruption supply chains

Work Environment

• 25% to 40% travel to regional facilities
• Collaboration with Operations, Engineering, Finance, Quality, and Sales departments
• Dynamic work environment requiring responsiveness to repair emergencies
