About the role

The Copy Supervisor at CG Life is a hands-on writer and emerging creative leader responsible for shaping high-quality copy, guiding conceptual development, and elevating storytelling across assigned brands. This role brings strong scientific fluency, persuasive writing craft, and growing leadership capability to omnichannel pharmaceutical work. The Copy Supervisor transforms complex clinical and scientific information into clear, engaging, and compliant narratives that resonate with HCP and patient audiences. They partner closely with art, strategy, account, and project management teams to ensure work delivers strategically, creatively, and scientifically. This role is client-facing and requires strong presentation skills, the ability to speak confidently to scientific rationale and creative reasoning, and the ability to build trust with internal partners and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Concept and copy development for assigned projects, ensuring ideas are rooted in strategy and communicate with clarity and impact.
  • Translate complex medical and scientific data into accurate, compelling, and compliant copy for multichannel deliverables.
  • Develop headlines, body copy, brand stories, messaging frameworks, scripts, and long-form content as needed.
  • Maintain and evolve brand voice, tone, and messaging consistency across tactics.
  • Guide annotation best practices and ensure copy meets MLR expectations.
  • Partner with art supervisors and designers to develop unified conceptual solutions.
  • Collaborate with Strategy, Account, and Project Management teams to ensure copy aligns with insights, scientific accuracy, and tactical plans.
  • Contribute to client presentations, brand workshops, and collaborative working sessions.
  • Support new business efforts through concepting and drafting pitch materials.
  • Provide constructive, actionable feedback to junior and mid-level writers, helping grow their craft and understanding of pharma-specific requirements.
  • Support workload planning for direct reports and escalate risks as needed.
  • Model best practices in writing, regulatory discipline, and collaborative leadership.
  • Help foster a creative culture grounded in inclusivity, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain strong understanding of FDA/OPDP regulations and apply them effectively to all copy.
  • Build growing expertise across therapeutic categories, including rare disease (preferred).
  • Stay current on scientific trends, brand competitors, and evolving communication approaches.
  • Ensure file accuracy, version control, and submission readiness for MLR processes.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of pharmaceutical copywriting experience within creative or advertising agencies; AOR experience required.
  • Experience supporting or contributing to pharmaceutical launches; rare disease experience preferred.
  • Strong conceptual thinker with portfolio demonstrating persuasive and original writing across formats.
  • Ability to translate complex scientific information into clear, engaging narratives.
  • Strong client-facing confidence and excellent verbal presentation skills.
  • Experience mentoring and developing junior writers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Life Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of MLR/annotation processes and regulatory considerations.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and time-management skills.

Pay

The estimated salary range for this position is $105,000 - $115,000 USD. Offers are tailored within this range based on organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic zone, and the selected candidate’s experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other relevant factors. This position is also eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus program.
