Copy of Youth Direct Support Professional (DSP)

One part-time position available, 20–29 hours per week. Shifts may include days, evenings, or overnights in a 24/7 facility.

About the role

Direct Support Professionals provide a therapeutic environment for behaviorally and emotionally impaired youth by implementing individualized support plans, teaching daily living skills, managing behavioral health concerns, responding to crisis situations, and ensuring accurate documentation of progress.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with therapists to incorporate treatment-related goals for youth to reduce behavioral health concerns.
• Promote a safe environment for children and youth.
• Teach self-help, social, interpersonal, and daily living skills.
• Follow and implement assigned individualized support and services for children and youth.
• Provide behavior management (e.g., defusing anger, emotional outbursts).
• Respond to crisis situations and assist crisis staff with support and services.
• Document and communicate pertinent information regarding child/youth per procedures and protocols.
• Observe and document child and youth’s progress in accordance with Medicaid standards through documentation databases.
• Maintain professional boundaries while establishing trustworthy and beneficial relationships.
• Co-facilitate groups with children and youth.
• Transport child/youth in Ariel van or personal vehicle as needed (to/from appointments, scheduled events, emergencies, individual and program outings).
• Administer medications as prescribed, including proper documentation of medication administration, errors, storage, and counts per QMAP standards.
• Report any issues or concerns.
• Complete training required for the position.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with supervisor, parents, guardians, case managers, and all other individuals involved with the client.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum age of 21.

Qualifications

• One to two years of demonstrated successful working experience in related fields (e.g., with the I/DD population or in a mental health field) preferred.
• Bilingual in ASL or Spanish preferred.

Pay

Hiring range: $17.00–$18.53 per hour, depending on education and experience.
