About the Role

ARCO Design/Build is seeking a passionate problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This internship provides exposure to the full lifecycle of a design/build construction project, working alongside experienced professionals invested in your growth.

What You'll Do

  • Learn the concept-to-completion approach to project management
  • Assist with estimating and takeoffs, describing project proposals and assigning dollar values
  • Help create schedules for subcontractor and trade activities
  • Attend design meetings with owners and design teams, including structural engineers and architects
  • Prepare weekly reports, document progress, and track meeting action items
  • Shadow Project Managers on project calls and site meetings
  • Send bid instructions, schedules, and drawings to subcontractors; evaluate proposals and assist with awarding subcontracts
  • Complete and submit permit applications with required documents and fees to city, county, and fire authorities
  • Receive and route submittals to Design/Build Managers and communicate approvals to subcontractors
  • Learn about subcontracts, change orders, pay requests, and pay applications
  • Visit job sites to monitor project progress
  • Attend offsite trainings and biweekly learning sessions provided by the Learning and Development team
  • Gain exposure to business development strategies and client relationship building

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Management, Building Science, or Construction Engineering undergraduate or graduate program (other related engineering majors considered)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and strong work ethic
  • Previous co-op or internship experience in construction preferred but not required
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred but not required
