Coordinator Volunteer Home Care

Responsibilities

• Represent the volunteers and advocate for volunteer services.
• Identify needs for volunteers.
• Match volunteers with patients and families.
• Assign volunteers.
• Maintain list of volunteers assigned to the team with information needed to adequately match patients and volunteers.
• Maintain frequent communication with the team’s volunteers.
• Encourage and collect volunteer notes; track and report hours to Volunteer Services manager.
• Represent the volunteer program in team meetings while encouraging use of volunteers.
• Serve as a liaison to facilitate communication between volunteers and staff.
• Provide individual volunteer support as needed.
• Inform patients and families of volunteer availability and assess patient/family needs for volunteer services.
• Supervise volunteers when designated supervisor is unavailable.
• Assist with determining recruitment needs.
• Support the volunteer program through participation in volunteer trainings and functions.
• Undertake any other special projects at the direction of the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Ability to develop telephone rapport with volunteers, patients, and families.
• Understanding of volunteering motivations.
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as a team member.
• Excellent organizational and record keeping skills.
• Ability to travel per job requirements.

Education

• High school education.
• Previous experience as a volunteer.
• Some healthcare or volunteer administration experience preferred.
• Bilingual skills may be appropriate in certain geographic areas.
