About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic advisement for Talent Development students through appreciative advising.
  • Conduct weekly individual and group meetings with Talent Development students.
  • Conduct Progress Check Point evaluations with Talent Development students.
  • Aid in the development/coordination of support services such as those that support transition, first year experience, and retention.
  • Maintain confidential records, reports, and documentation regarding Talent Development students.
  • Maintain a network of contacts and resources.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of resources that support student success such as financial aid.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of University policies and procedures that support and assist in retaining students.
  • Represent Talent Development on various University committees.
  • Participate in scholastic standing review as needed.
  • Aid in parent and family engagement.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree.
  • Required: Minimum of three years of combined experience in two or more of the following: recruiting and/or advising in an academic program setting, coordinating programs, or working in a Title IV grant program.
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree.
  • Preferred: Bilingual proficiency (spoken and written).
  • Preferred: Academic advising experience gained while pursuing a graduate program.
  • Preferred: Academic advising experience, including experience obtained while enrolled in a graduate degree program.
  • Preferred: Collaborative work style.
  • Preferred: Ability to use Google Suite (or similar platform).
  • Preferred: Ability to use Brightspace (or similar platform), presentation technology and student records systems (preferably Peoplesoft).
  • Preferred: Experience with Starfish.
  • Preferred: Ability to use Microsoft 365.
