Job Summary

Pali Momi Medical Center, with 118 beds and a medical staff of over 400 physicians, serves the communities of Central and West O'ahu. The hospital is known for its medical innovations, including an interventional cardiac catheterization unit, a minimally invasive surgical suite, a women's center, and advanced imaging services. It also offers a unique team triage approach in its emergency room and a specialized Sterile Services department.

About the Role

The Coordinator is responsible for managing the instrumentation ordering and repairs for the Perioperative Services department. This role involves assessing, planning, negotiating, coordinating, and facilitating all instrumentation needs, including capital, specialty, trauma, and consignment items. The Coordinator must ensure professional development, coordinate research and in-service training, and manage the instrument tracking system. Additionally, they are responsible for maintaining competency in cleaning, preparing, assembling, sterilizing, distributing, and ensuring the quality of surgical instruments and specific medical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Affirmatively assess, plan, order, and negotiate all instrumentation needs
  • Facilitate coordination and implementation of instrumentation orders and repairs
  • Ensure professional development and staff training
  • Coordinate research and in-service training
  • Manage the instrument tracking system
  • Maintain competency in cleaning, preparing, assembling, sterilizing, distributing, and ensuring the quality of surgical instruments and specific medical equipment

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Current SPD certification (HSPA, CRCST, CBSPD, SCPDT)
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a surgery or central supply setting, with at least twelve (12) months of this experience while maintaining a base certification in Sterile Processing from a nationally recognized entity (i.e. CRCST or SCPDT)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or health care related field
  • Advanced certification in HSPA or CBSPD
