Coordinator of Youth Ministry (Full Time)

Full-time position that includes evenings and some weekends. Age groups served: Middle School (Grades 6th-8th) and High School (Grades 9th-12th). Reports to the Pastor and collaborates closely with the Parish Director of Religious Education (DRE).

About the Role

St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church seeks a dynamic, faith-filled, and organized full-time Coordinator of Youth Ministry. The ideal candidate will help our current ministry thrive, fostering a vibrant missionary disciple culture for middle and high school youth. Nourishing a deepening of their faith through prayer, sacraments, and scripture. Given our diverse parish community, bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish) is highly preferred to effectively engage families.

Responsibilities

• Program Development & Spiritual Leadership
  • Design and execute weekly engaging youth group nights, retreats, and spiritual formation for grades 6-12.
  • Develop and lead annual parish-wide events.
  • Collaborate on ministry opportunities with the local community.
  • Support sacrament preparation in collaboration with the Parish DRE.
  • Encourage youth participation in parish life, including youth choir, lectoring, and altar serving.
  • Tailor ministry to be welcoming to our multicultural youth.
• Collaboration & Administration
  • Meet weekly with the DRE to align youth ministry with the overall catechetical vision.
  • Coordinate schedules through the parish office to avoid conflicts and assist in parish-wide events.
  • Attend Diocese of Knoxville youth meetings, training sessions, and conferences.
  • Manage the youth ministry budget, fundraising efforts, and fee collections for trips or retreats.
• Volunteer & Leadership Cultivation
  • Recruit, screen, train, and mentor adult volunteers (Core Team) from both cultural communities.
  • Ensure all volunteers complete the Diocese of Knoxville Safe Environment Training Requirements.
  • Develop peer-led youth leadership to empower high school students.
• Communication & Family Outreach
  • Provide all promotional materials, social media updates, and parent letters in both English and Spanish.
  • Host parent meetings and provide resources to help parents form faith at home.
  • Maintain safe, professional, and compliant digital communication channels with youth and parents.

Requirements

• Practicing Catholic in good standing, demonstrating a deep love for Christ and the Church.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Youth Ministry, or a related field (or equivalent parish experience).
• Bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish) highly preferred.
• 2+ years of experience leading youth ministry or working with adolescents in a parish setting.
• Exceptional communication, conflict resolution, and collaborative skills.
• Must pass a criminal background check and complete Diocesan Safe Environment Training before hiring.
