About the role
The Coordinator of Special Events plays a crucial role in planning and executing high-profile events for the university community. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute event plans that align with the university’s strategic goals.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure seamless execution of events.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for event services.
- Oversee event logistics including venue selection, catering, decorations, and audio-visual needs.
- Prepare and distribute event materials such as invitations, schedules, and promotional items.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and regulations.
- Monitor event budgets and report financial status to management.
- Handle post-event evaluations and gather feedback from attendees and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in event coordination or related field.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale events and handle multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with event management software.
