About the role
The Coordinator of Access & Disability plays a crucial role in ensuring that all individuals, including those with disabilities, have equal access to programs, services, and facilities. This position works closely with various departments to implement accessibility improvements and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance physical and digital accessibility across campus.
- Coordinate with faculty, staff, and students to identify and address accessibility needs.
- Oversee the implementation of accessibility guidelines and standards.
- Provide training and resources to promote disability awareness and inclusion.
- Monitor and report on accessibility compliance and make recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to relevant policies and laws.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in disability studies, accessibility, or a related field.
- At least three years of experience in accessibility management or related field.
- Knowledge of ADA, Section 504, and other relevant accessibility laws.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education settings is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with web accessibility tools.
- Understanding of universal design principles and their application in educational environments.
