About the role

This Network Operations Coordinator supports the activities centrally managed within the Network Operations Center and serves as the primary point of contact for coordinating those activities. The role requires flexibility and initiative to diagnose issues and provide timely resolution in support of patient safety and process efficiency. You will use automated systems to optimize capacity and staffing management, ensure staffing and scheduling needs are maintained, coordinate all aspects of patient placement, and facilitate incoming and outgoing transfers and patient flow logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Process daily worksheets to reflect available staff on all nursing units and plan staffing needs for future shifts.
  • Collaborate with Administrative Representatives at each facility to schedule and assign staff to nursing units, utilizing knowledge of different modes of patient care delivery.
  • Communicate with other hospital campuses to ensure efficient usage of resources.
  • Manage requests for patient transfers and direct admissions, accurately collecting required intake data in compliance with governing regulations and policies.
  • Coordinate provider-to-provider calls and document all acceptance calls accurately.
  • Use critical thinking and established processes to assess and facilitate patient movement across multiple facilities.
  • Proactively collaborate with the Transfer Center, registration, nursing staff, and physicians regarding proper bed placement.
  • Assign beds according to diagnosis, physician requests, and hospital policies while avoiding federal non-compliance and penalties.
  • Operate electronic systems and technology to optimize patient flow logistics, capacity management, and staffing and scheduling.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Receive and record absent calls and notify the appropriate unit; document staff time changes on schedules via computer system.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability as organizational needs change throughout the shift.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary healthcare team to facilitate and ensure patient satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED – Required
  • 1 year of related experience – Required
  • 3 years of related experience – Preferred

Schedule

PRN & varied nights: 0700 - 1930 with rotating weekends and holidays (3 days/12-hour shifts). Medical background preferred but not required.
