Patient Care Tech Unit Coordinator PRN Days

About the role

The Patient Care Technician handles various duties under a licensed nurse's supervision, helping deliver patient care and meet family needs while following the care plan and considering the patient's age and development stage.

We are seeking students currently enrolled in a healthcare program, with the anticipated start date of either June 2nd or June 16th. Opportunities are available in the following departments: Medical Surgical, ICU, IMCU, Telemetry, and Float Pool.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and records patient data, including vital signs.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, toileting, and transferring.
  • Responds to call lights and conducts regular patient rounds.
  • Provides personal hygiene care and assists with patient clean-up.
  • Adheres to Baylor Scott & White policies and procedures.
  • Performs glucose monitoring and collects specimens as requested.
  • Directly supports multiple patients during each shift.
  • Tracks and reports quality data for the unit.
  • Completes and maintains files and forms for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Assigns phones and location devices to appropriate staff members.
  • Maintains inventory, requisitions, and stocks supplies and equipment in the work area.
  • Greets visitors and provides assistance.
  • Answers telephones and communicates with the nursing team and medical staff using pagers, cell phones, and other tools based on department needs.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Less than 1 year of experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (or obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer).
