About the role
The Coordinator – Medical Services (LPN/RN) position is available at Harbor, serving Lucas and Wood Counties. This role supports the Medical Services Department through clinical coordination, client assessment and treatment support, and supervision of the Medical Assistant team.
Responsibilities
- Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates assigned staff.
- Provides coaching, performance management, and disciplinary action as needed.
- Holds regular 1:1 meetings with direct reports and routine team meetings to ensure alignment and communication.
- Preserves confidentiality in all personnel matters.
- Ensures compliance with union contract if supervising union positions.
- Schedules and manages the medical assistants and assists with nurses' schedules.
- Covers insurance forms and pre-certifications as necessary.
- Maintains medical equipment for repairs/replacement and safety.
- Adheres to blood borne pathogen policies and reports any exposures per Harbor policy.
- Adheres to policies for monitoring of first aid kits and blood borne pathogen kits onsite.
- Supervises and trains medical assistants and nurses in the mental health facility.
- Provides supportive collaboration for nursing depts.
- Provides the onboarding of MA’s and may assist with LPN’s as needed.
- Responsible for the quality and completeness of the clinical record.
- Develops and updates Individualized Service Plan (ISP) for each client.
- Assesses client needs and formulates a strength-based ISP in conjunction with the client, family and/or significant others.
- Evaluates and revises the ISP according to the client’s responses and needs.
- Fulfills or exceeds unit expectations established by Harbor.
- Attends meetings as required and serves on committees as requested.
- Participates in professional meetings, workshops, seminars, and other continuing education programs to keep current with professional practice.
- Provides personnel supervisory functions for assigned staff including annual evaluations, involvement in hiring, disciplinary actions, etc.
- Responsible for the quality and completeness of the clinical record.
- Coordinates indicated evaluations and assessments by internal and/or external providers.
- Coordinates and monitors all services identified in the ISP.
- Provides assistance in gaining access to essential community resources.
Qualifications
- Education: Successful completion of an LPN/RN or Medical Assistant program.
- Licensure and Certifications: Active LPN or RN license. Must maintain active licensure in good standing. NCI/CPI certification within 90 days of employment. Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and show proof of personal auto insurance policy to be deemed insurable with Harbor’s vehicle insurance carrier.
