About the role

Serves as the school-based International Baccalaureate Diploma and Career-related Programs Coordinator, providing school, community, and system leadership. Works directly with the District IB Office, content area offices, and school administration to support the implementation and instructional goals of an IB World School. This is a full-time, non-teaching, 12-month position requiring flexible scheduling to accommodate participation in Magnet program and community events outside regular school hours.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all aspects of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and Career-related Programs in grades 9 through 12 for the assigned school and provides instructional leadership to faculty and staff.
  • Collaborates with the IB Program District Coordinator, school administrators, local and global IB World schools, and other offices on an ongoing basis.
  • Monitors and observes the implementation of the school improvement plan and makes recommendations; conducts classroom visits and teacher observations.
  • Develops, communicates, and monitors an action plan aligned to IB Standards and Practices that promotes program growth and student success, supporting the vision of the school and district.
  • Provides leadership to the school community; keeps faculty and administration informed on IB matters related to the IB Diploma and Career-related Programs and all new/revised IB Programme publications.
  • Facilitates outcome-based collaborative planning, professional development, and meetings for teachers to build capacity; provides regular verbal and written feedback regarding program implementation.
  • Monitors the academic progress and well-being of students in the program; facilitates support services and contracts when appropriate; serves as mentor for students and conferences with parents.
  • Promotes program awareness and provides student support through parent meetings and school/community information sessions during and outside the instructional day.
  • Collects and maintains data, student records, and portfolios; shares data analysis and provides quarterly written reports.
  • Plans and delivers summer bridge programs for all IB Programme students; supports multiple projects and initiatives by informing faculty, administration, parents, and students of their significance.
  • Recruits new students through school visits, information sessions, and marketing materials; manages the student application process for the school.
  • Manages the budget for the assigned school and prepares annual budget reports.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university (required). Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience, preferably in an International Baccalaureate designated school (required).
  • Hold or be eligible for a professional educator certificate/license issued by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) (preferred).
  • Hold or be eligible for a Driver’s License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or state of legal residence (required).
  • Daily access to reliable transportation.

Skills

  • Knowledge of school organization, goals, and objectives with emphasis on curriculum design and instruction.
  • Ability to model effective, research-based instructional strategies and promote a collaborative culture reflective of an IB school.
  • Knowledge of current trends and research in the field of specialization.
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and lead a team in program design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong personnel management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive collaborative relationships with community and school partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency with business technology applications (e.g., video/web conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Leadership Role

  • Acts as lead for 6 to 20 direct staff and 101 to 499 indirect staff.
  • Duties include training employees, directing work, maintaining production/sales records, providing performance feedback, planning work, instructing employees in techniques, and performing the same type of work as the team.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

  • Standing, walking, sitting, keyboarding, talking, and hearing: between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds: under 1/3 of the time.
  • Work environment: primarily office, school, or similar indoor settings (over 2/3 of the time) with moderate noise levels.
  • Travel: 50% monthly day travel within the county for school visits.
