About the role

The Group Counseling Coordinator is responsible for coordination of all psycho-educational, therapeutic and support groups offered through The Amelia Center, in addition to carrying a full individual and family counseling caseload.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of all psycho-educational, therapeutic and support groups offered through The Amelia Center
  • Carry a full individual and family counseling caseload
  • Keep records, evaluations and statistical information for the purpose of reporting on all groups
  • Experience providing counseling for Perinatal loss issues is preferred

Requirements

  • A current license in Counseling or Social Work is required
  • An understanding of the grief process and experience in working with grieving children and families is required
  • A working understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required

Qualifications

  • Credentials with Equivalent Qualifications: Licensed Professional Counselor or any of the following equivalent qualifications below: Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
  • Education with Equivalent Qualifications: Masters Degree in Counseling
  • Experience with Equivalent Qualifications: 3 Years job experience as Staff Level with specialization in the field of Behavioral Counseling
  • History: History Monday, June 26, 1995, on a railroad track crossing near YMCA’s Camp Cosby in Alpine, Alabama, a train collided with a car carrying four camp counselors. All of them were killed instantly. One of those counselors was a young lady named Amelia Elliott.
