Coordinator for Residence Life

About the Role

The Coordinator for Residence Life is a full-time, twelve-month, live-on, exempt position reporting to an Assistant Director for Residence Life. The Coordinator is responsible for developing community for 300–600 residential students, providing programming, leadership development, supervision, and advising. Housing and Residence Life fosters safe, inclusive, and secure residential communities where students pursue academic excellence, personal growth, civic leadership, and responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and evaluate 6–14 student staff; may supervise a graduate student or coordinate hall desk operations.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and assessment of departmental goals and initiatives.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with staff and provide referrals to university resources as needed.
• Serve on an on-call duty rotation and manage hall budgets.
• Coordinate with Administration and Facilities staff for community needs.
• Plan, evaluate, and oversee programming and community-building in the residence hall.
• Serve as a judicial hearing officer for hall conduct and advise Hall Council.
• Support academic initiatives and may work with a Living Learning or Themed Community.
• Cultivate a positive living environment that fosters belonging and student relationships.
• Maintain high visibility, including attending events, walking the community, and interacting with residents.
• Perform administrative duties, including fund accounting and cross-departmental collaboration.
• Serve on departmental, divisional, and university committees as a Housing and Residence Life representative.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Facilities Management, or a related field (required upon hire).
• Post-baccalaureate experience in Housing and Residential Programs (preferred).

Physical Demands

The role involves frequent finger dexterity, reading, writing, talking, and walking; occasional climbing of stairs, bending, squatting, and reaching; and rare lifting of up to 90+ lbs. Work may include exposure to heights, ladders, extreme temperatures, chemicals, and potential hazardous conditions. Occasional night/dark environments and use of a respirator may be required.
