About the role
The Coordinator for Native American Ministry works on the implementation of the 2024 USCCB’s Pastoral Framework for Indigenous Ministry: Keeping Christ’s Sacred Promise and serves as a pastoral leader and cultural liaison between both Catholic Dioceses of Oklahoma and Native American communities across the state.
Responsibilities
- Serves as a pastoral leader and cultural liaison between Catholic Dioceses of Oklahoma and Native American communities
- Promotes spiritual growth, cultural understanding, and mutual respect by supporting Native American Catholics in their faith journey
- Encourages the integration of Indigenous traditions within the life of the Church
- Provides pastoral care and spiritual support to Native American individuals and communities through active collaboration with parishes, apostolic movements, and diocesan leadership
- Plans, organizes, and facilitates culturally relevant liturgies, retreats, and faith formation programs that honor both Catholic teachings and Native traditions
- Fosters meaningful relationships and open dialogue to strengthen connections between the Church and Native communities
- Advances inclusive ministry efforts
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years of pastoral ministry experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of Native American cultures and traditions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and responsive to community needs
- Must be an active, practicing Catholic in good standing
