About the role

The Fitness Coordinator assists in the daily operations of the facility, including greeting and check-in at the front desk, offering exceptional hospitality and customer service, scheduling service appointments, processing payments, articulating service and product knowledge, and ordering and stocking retail merchandise. This position reports to the Wellness Director.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the BlueStar Experience for members and guests by modeling and maintaining the standards set in the BlueStar 10 and adhering to BlueStar Resort & Golf (BSRG) and facility policies.
  • Operate as part of a team handling daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, facility inspections and stocking, along with communicating facility maintenance needs.
  • Welcome and provide check-in for members and guests at the front desk, delivering exceptional customer service and addressing all inquiries.
  • Provide feedback to managers about customer satisfaction and concerns to improve overall operations.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of all fitness services and products, promoting them enthusiastically to members and guests to support their wellbeing.
  • Manage computer appointment scheduling for spa, salon, and fitness center; resolve scheduling conflicts or concerns with team members.
  • Process spa and fitness charges with proficient cash handling; balance the register at the end of a shift.
  • Assist with group spa event bookings from initial scheduling through execution.
  • Monitor and maintain safe and clean work areas, including the front reception, spa entrance, waiting/relaxation lounge, outdoor client areas, fitness center, and locker rooms.
  • Report incidents and accidents to the Wellness Director.
  • Maintain and upkeep the retail area; receive, check-in, price products, and restock shelves.
  • Implement proper inventory and purchasing procedures; review weekly reports for retail and services.
  • Provide tours of the fitness center to guests and deliver sales tours to prospective clients.
  • Participate in monthly promotions and sales strategies as assigned.
  • Provide administrative assistance as requested.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One to three years of direct customer service and hospitality experience required.
  • One to three years of health and fitness-related work experience preferred.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledgeable in fitness club operations.
  • Skilled in attentive customer service and calmly responding to guest concerns.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, portions, and percentages.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to respond to staff, guests, and community needs.
  • Demonstrated initiative—ability to think, work, and make independent decisions based on sound judgment.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
  • Flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

Work Environment

This position operates indoors and routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copy, and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • Regularly required to hear, see, speak clearly, and understand the speech of others.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk (occasionally for extended periods).
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; bend and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Pay

$16 per hour

Benefits

  • New hourly full-time team members working 30+ hours per week are eligible for company medical, dental, and life insurance plans after 60 days of full-time employment.
  • Full-time team members accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) at a rate of 120 hours per year.
  • Full-time team members receive 7 paid holidays annually.
  • Part-time team members accrue Paid Sick Leave in accordance with state guidelines.
  • All team members 21+ are eligible to participate in the J.F. Shea Co., Inc. 401(k) plan after 30 days of service.
