Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Schedule ARD meetings following all state and federal timelines/guidelines
- Collaborate with campus staff, district personnel and parents to coordinate ARD meetings, and Section 504 meetings
- Cookordinate paperwork, evaluations, IEPs, etc. with all related and instructional service, teachers, and assessment personnel
- Attend monthly meetings and trainings regarding special education, Section 504, and national/state testing
- Aid with communication among assessment and related/instructional services
- Provide leadership in ARD committee meetings and Section 504 meetings by facilitating the meetings, overseeing completion of paperwork, and necessary supplements
- Assist the campus team to ensure campus compliance with federal and state law
- Use technology to organize information, schedule meetings and staffing, develop and maintain ARD Section 504 documentation and produce written materials
- Submit lists, forms, and data requested by the Special Education Department by due dates (e.g. transportation, PEIMS, ESY; submit required lists, forms and data for Section 504 by due dates)
- Ensure accurate record transfer upon student entering/exiting DAEP
- Review and correct student files to ensure data integrity
- Organize and coordinate Section 504 meetings, referrals, 504 MDRs, paperwork, evaluations, and invitations to parents, in compliance with local procedures and federal law
- Maintain campus 504 files for eligible students and enter student data in SIS
- Distribute 504 accommodations, behavior plans, health plans, etc. to campus staff and maintain documentation
- Cookordinate special education referrals from Section 504
- Submit all Section 504 Dyslexia data to PEIMS as applicable
- Act as the liaison to building personnel and Central Office staff
- Train staff and parents on topics of interest in Special Education, Section 504, and testing
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- Master's Degree preferred
- Valid Texas Teacher Certification
- Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience
- Leadership experience in providing staff development
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of Special Education
- Experience with Section 504 preferred
- Experience with national and state testing programs preferred
- Ability to apply knowledge of federal, state, and district policies and procedures surrounding Special Education, 504, RtI and testing programs
