Coordinator & Academic Advisor (EOC)

About the role

Barton Community College's Educational Opportunity Center (TRIO) project seeks an experienced Coordinator/Academic Advisor to support participants in overcoming obstacles to complete secondary education and enter post-secondary institutions.

Responsibilities

• Frequent daytime travel to build and maintain relationships with partner agencies
• Weekly trips to local correctional facilities to assist incarcerated individuals with their educational goals

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and valid drivers license required; Master’s degree preferred
• Previous experience in higher education settings, particularly with adult populations
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Attention to detail

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with vocational and academic advising/counseling
• Knowledge of admissions, financial aid, and related processes
• Experience working with individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds
