Cook - Prep Sugar Factory

About the role

Responsible for preparation of all pantry food items and maintaining a sanitary kitchen work station. Organize, set up, and produce all food requirements for private corporate and special events and normal operations. Prepares and produces all menu items to be served.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all food items properly in accordance with printed orders and plating instructions, avoiding waste.
• Portion and prepare salads, appetizers, soups, desserts, and deli items according to standard recipes.
• Perform basic prep cooking such as baking, frying, sautéing, and steaming.
• Follow and prepare all items on the prep list or as directed by the supervisor, maintaining quality and freshness.
• Visually inspect vegetables, fruits, and meats to ensure quality standards.
• Rotate fruits and vegetables properly to maintain freshness.
• Set up the pantry, obtain and distribute all requisitioned supplies.
• Stock and clean all kitchen areas; keep workstation neat and orderly.
• Carry a calibrated thermometer to check prepared food for proper and safe temperature.
• Maintain sanitation buckets with the proper bleach‑to‑water ratio.
• Use protective gloves when preparing food.
• Follow supervisors’ instructions and handle pressure during peak hours.
• Provide exceptional customer service.
• Work safely, following all established safety rules and regulations.
• Communicate effectively with co‑workers, supervisors, and guests.
• Follow all relevant policies and procedures, including the company’s recycling program standards.
• Observe Sugar Factory recipes and standards in all kitchen areas.
• Sauté, broil, roast, steam cook, and make sauces, marinades, and dressings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Union representation by Unite Here; employment subject to the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
• Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and nights as scheduled.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to successfully pass a background check.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English.

Pay

Starting compensation: $17.00 per hour.

Schedule

Work may include weekends, holidays, and night shifts as scheduled.
